Grant Awards
As we committed at the establishment of www.FoundationsForRecovery.org, it is our intention to be totally transparent in our work, including detailed disclosures on every grant issued from one of our two relief funds. The strategy behind the assessment and award process is also detailed on this web site, either from the Strategy link on the left of the screen, or by clicking here .
A letter from John Davies, President and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, regarding this next phase of grantmaking, can be viewed by clicking here.
On Jan. 18, 2007, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation issued its final set of grants from the Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund. To date, more than $10.6 million has been issued from the fund to organizations working to assist people impacted by the storm.
Below is a listing of all grants issued to date from the Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund. Click on any grant to read a detailed description of the grant, and where available, the outcomes and impact of the grant. We will continue to post grants as issued, and outcome reports as they are completed by the grant recipient.

Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Recovery Fund Grant Awards
This fund will focus on the rebuilding of the civic structures of greater New Orleans that will provide basic human services to residents in those devastated areas. The Baton Rouge Area Foundation has established a contractual relationship with the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) that creates a vehicle for them to distribute all amounts in the Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Recovery Fund in conjunction with their own newly established fund. Total donations to this fund to date total $4.6 Million, all of which have been conveyed to GNOF under this agreement.
The contractual relationship requires that all grants made by GNOF of these funds strictly meet the original intent of the fund, and that detailed reporting of grant allocations will be provided to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for reporting on this web site. The Baton Rouge Area Foundation remains committed to being transparent and accountable to our donors, as well as ensuring that this fund is administered for maximum positive community impact. Additional details on this developing situation will be distributed as available on this web site, and anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
